To use ODBC, the client must also be set up to use SqlNet ( ODBC uses SqlNet to connect )
In Visual C++ ( or VB ) I would use Oracle Objects for OLE.... -they use 'pure' SqlNet for the connection....( SqlNet must still be installed on the Client)
