Excel report preferences?

For delivery of scheduled, standard reports, does anyone else find that their users want the reports delivered in Excel with full support for formatting?

The reasons include: need to include additional local data in analysis, need to cut/paste into presentations (OLE compliant).

They also though want presentation quality formatting including Excel outlines around summary groups, heading/footer data, font specifications, etc so that each user isn't forced to fiddle with the layout for presentations.

Because of processing considerations, we wanted to deliver via background (versus adhoc, realtime DB access).

Any tools to do this? Any reasons why Report vendors don't recognize this as a target delivery (versus HTML and PDF)? Received on Wed Jan 20 1999 - 18:38:45 CET
