Hi,

New Schema Viewer 1.1 is available at

http://protasov.simplenet.com/

Schema Viewer 1.1 provides retrieval of SQL and PL/SQL definitions of Oracle database schema objects. These are main features of the program:

It makes reverse engineering of tables, clusters, sequences, synonyms, views, triggers, packages, package bodies, procedures, functions, types, type bodies, libraries, directories and database links, defined in a single schema.

Comments, constraints, indexes and triggers are generated together with their tables and views.

Grant statements are created with each object to reflect current permissions.

Dependencies among objects are shown as comments in the scripts.

Oracle 7 and 8 servers are supported.

New Oracle 8 features like object types, object tables, object views, nested tables, index organized tables, lobs, instead of triggers, partitions, libraries and directories are available.

Utility works only with the objects of the connected user. There are no needs to use DBA account.

One can select necessary objects and save their definitions to the files.

Program can draw a graph of dependencies between objects in the schema. You can navigate on this graph and see object definitions.

Invalid objects can be compiled according to the dependencies among them.

It is possible to connect to the second schema, compare object definitions in two schemas and see differences in the definitions of the same object.

After comparing object definitions can be selected and saved to the files in order to create or change these objects in another schema and synchronize the schemas.

You can choose font most convenient to your needs.

There are some tables and views in the svins7.sql file which must be installed under DBA account when working with Oracle 7. The similar views are in the svins8.sql file for Oracle 8.

Usual Oracle connect string can be used in command line to create shortcuts for the different schemas.

This software works in Windows NT environment. It has simple setup, which registers program, inserts its icon in the program menu and creates folder.

Application is developed in Delphi 4.0 and uses Direct Oracle Access 3.2 components to communicate with Oracle software. It is implemented as a single exe-file, which directly calls ociw32.dll, ora7x.dll or ora8x.dll. There are no needs to setup or configure IDAPI or ODBC software.

Utility has 90-day trial period.
