Thanks Jochen. I found the file in ~/prod/messages rather than $ORACLE_HOME/bin. I looked on our system under $ORACLE_HOME and found an 'sqlnet.log' in $ORACLE_HOME/network/log/sqlnet.log. It looked like it had several events appended to make that file.

The 'sqlnet.log' which I found recently, had only a single event. Previously, (another event) sqlnet.log was created in a different directory under that users home directory.

This time, it got in with data files, causing a problem for me... So, you can see that I would like to control where it is created.
