Providing there is no need to perform a commit whilst the data is in the temmporary table it is possible for all users to use ONE table without having to identify the 'owner' of each record. Nobody can see anyone else's changes and once the data in the temporary table is no longer required you issue a rollback statement clearing out your work. In my experience people often log in with someone else's userid and password (usually the GUEST account) which could cause problems with both solutions that you have identified if two or more people do this at the same time.
