I want my drive to work without starting the engine in the morning so that I can prolong my engine life and not use any fuel but it's kind of difficult to achieve!!

Seriously, the Reports Server (Or Reports Background Engine as it's known in Reports 3.0) actually runs your report! There is, however a parameter that will shutdown the Reports Server upon completion of the report (I think its ORACLE_SHUTDOWN=YES off the top of my head) but this obviously means that subsequent reports cannot take advantage of the Server being loaded and therfore execute quicker...

I suppose you could run your report via the Host Built-in (r25run32 reportname) but that seems nuts to me! and anyway that would most likely limit you to synchronous report execution and that would invoke the Reports Runtime executable which I'm sure is similar in its resource utilization (memory footprint/processing etc)...
