HiYa

I was wondering, I want to create an output file that is composed of various line lengths. I think that I have to set the linesize as the length of the maximum line, so as to prevent the output being split across multipule lines.

However this means that the lines that are shorter are then padded with space to fill the extra length.

I think that these spaces are also are cumulative in the limmitation of 1 Meg outout, right?

So if I want to output a file that has occasional long lines, but don't want to waste space on spaces at the end of the lines, and don't want the longer lines broken at the linesize, is there an alternative way?

Maybe some other output package in PL/SQL???

My only other thought is assemble them to a table, and then spool the table from UNIX.

anyone?

Thanks

See Ya
