If I'm not mistaken,

LOV_NAME is an ITEM property
and can be used with SET_ITEM_PROPERTY
and GET_ITEM_PROPERTY

You can do a search on LOV_NAME
in the Forms On-line help (using Find box) and yopu will be displayed
three topics

  1. Attaching an LOV Programatically at Runtime
  2. Reserved Words
  3. SET_ITEM_PROPERTY
I don't think it's an undocumented feature
