Oracle 8 newbie

Hi all,
 I just installed Oracle on NT4. and have following questions

1. Just after installation how can i check everything is OK?
2. Why does the statement " connect sys/password as sysdba" has privilege error ?
3. After I install Oracelweb server on NT4 and restart NT, I got an error " failed to open oracle_home$\bin\OCIW32.dll" what's go wrong and how to fix it?
