DEFINING AND WORKIG WITH BINARY COLUMNS

i'd like to :

Define a binary column in Oracle 7.1.5 .
Perform assignment into that column for example: i want that the 14th bit will be equal to '1' and the 6th be equal to '0' .
Perform logical functions on taht field with another one alike (AND,OR) .
