Indeed, I forgot to disable the template feature.

So, I now can convert the report to 3.0 rex, and from 3.0 rex back to 2.5 rdf. r25convm recognizes that I am converting a newer version to an older one -- so I hoped that the resulting rdf file would run without any problem. Well, it does not: r25run gives me a core dump :-( Just in case anyone recognizes the problem, I used:

    r25run report=my_25_rep.rdf batch=YES \

        destype=FILE desname=my_25_rep.txt \
        paramform=NO printjob=NO mode=CHARACTER

If I generate my_25_rep.rdf using Reports 2.5, then this runs fine. But the converted 3.0 version does not...
