I agree wholeheartedly with Paul...

I went directly to Reports 2.5 from RPT and it took me about 3 months to learn the tool, but it was time well spent! My snazziest report was a dynamic Accounts Receivable Aging with 2 flavors: one screen version for Sales Dept folks who were on the phone with the customer and needed to know the customer's payment history while the other one was a hard copy printout for the Accounting Dept folks who used it for collections, etc.

The more I work with Reports 2.5, the more amazed I am at its power and flexibility. The frames thing is, I admit, a bit of a bother, but I solved that problem by keeping the Object Navigator open all the time to select the frame I wanted and I got a Kensington turbo mouse for the precise mouse control to grab that frame/object & move/size it. (I never did get the hang of the built in sizer!)

Performance was never ultimately a problem... I learned on some big reports to not include formating things like: Page # of # Pages, since that will slow down performance. I believe that was a minor sacrifice for the richness of the tool in satisfying some pretty tough user requirements.

Hope this helped you in your choice!
