Oracle Application Server 4.0 takes version 3.0 and integrates a transaction processing monitor, a CORBA-compliant object request broker (ORB), database access, and operating system services such as security and directory functions.
  • ORACLE REORGANIZES TOP EXECUTIVES As part of an ongoing executive shuffling, Oracle is reorganizing its forces again. In an effort to better redefine its applications business from its core database business, several key executives have shifted their duties or left the company.
  • ADVERTISING BLITZ FOR ORACLE APPS Oracle recently announced that it is launching a $25 million media marketing blitz in order to boost sales in its sagging applications division.
  • ORACLE TO EASE MIGRATION FROM MICROSOFT SQL SERVER Oracle announced a new tool that will let users migrate data from any Microsoft Corp. SQL Server database to its Oracle8 database. Oracle's Migration Workbench aims to entice those SQL Server customers who are concerned that version 7.0 of the Microsoft database might slip.
