Oracle8 BFILE data type

I tried to port a column with "bfile" as data type into Developer's form. Somehow I got the error message in Developer/2000:

   ORA-03115: Unsupported network datatype or representation.

Does anybody know how to solve the problem? The bfile column contains "GIF" pictures.
