How to display record based on a list selection?

Hello everyone. I'm developing an application in Forms 4.5 in which i've created a block based on a database table and i've put a push button in the block called inquire. When a user presses the push button, i want a list to be displayed and based on the selection in the list, the record for that should be fetched from the database and displayed in the block. Can anyone tell me how i can achieve this?
