A '.dat' file? What exactly is that? Where did it come from and in what format? Usually oracle has '.dmp' for export dumps and '.dbf' for datafiles, but there are many different permutations and possibilities. Give us a bit more info on where/how it was sourced (sqlplus, export, A.N.Other tool, etc.)
