newbie:help connecting through SQL+

HI!
I installed developer2000 v2.0 after which I installed personal oracle8.0. I am not able to connect to the database through either sql+ or forms. I am able to see the database through the oracle navigator following the link through personal oracle8/local databases. I am able to create tables and views through this.
When I try to connect through SQL+ I am getting this error.
When I use Scott/Tiger/cmexample.world (host string)
ERROR:
ORA-12202: TNS:internal navigation error
and
When I use Scott/tiger/emp
ERROR:
ORA-12154: TNS:could not resolve service name
Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
