Anyone using the Oracle "J" tools?

We got a free "sample" and have yet to install it. After taking the Web Server class, I am not excited about using PL/SQL. There are a lot of calls and I do not wan to be a HTML expert. We have a simple proof-of-concept to finish and it seems like a lot of work. We are hoping to do some easy Java work instead.
