DynamicSQL COBL Question

We are attempting to use some dynamic SQL statements, however, the examples provided in the Oracle books are unclear and we have been unable to get them to work. Does anyone have any simple (complete) COBOL code examples that illustrate, for example, a dynamic SELECT SUM(anything) FROM anytable INTO somewhere. ?? I'd appreciate any assistance you can provide. Also, anyone know of any good texts that will provide any additional guidance. I'd appreciate it if you could email it to me.
