Has anyone tried to map fields between tables/record files in Designer/2000?

I have a requirement to document, using Designer/2000, all interfaces going into our data warehouse and the tables to which they are linked, at the column /field level. We have tried all methods, and the closest anyone here has come would be to establish a foreign key between the interface file (typically VSAM) and the destination table in the warehouse using the module data diagrammer. Note that the interface file is used to populate many different tables with different bits of information. As a result, not all data in the interface file is used by the destination table.

The information being collected will never be used to generate a system, it is for documentation only. The problem with the module data diagrammer solution, it seems to me, is that it creates a dependency on a module which is non-existent in the real world. It also creates an opportunity for errors with the keys on the dw tables.

I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone might be able to give me with this problem.

Thanks for all your help in advance
