I am aware the Arcserve can execute scripts prior to and after backup. One
idea is
to install a shutdown command prior to backup, backup, then restart the
database
after. If the database is shutdown, reinstalling all the database files will
reinstate the
database. If the database is offline, the backup is correct. No data can be
cached.
Another plan is to do an export using the Oracle tools either with the
Arcserve tools
or via a AT script so that the export finishs prior to the backup starting. If
the database is small enough this is not a problem. If the database is
extremely large, you may need a do the database backup on the weekend with
redo logs collected during the week.
