And there is the minor but important distinction between the singular and
plural forms of the word.

I'd say "Hey, you guys" is not gender specific (in fact it pretty much has
become synonymous with the 2nd person plural pronoun you), whereas "Every guy"
definitely refers to males.

(How about that for an ESLer blabbering about english? :) )
