Q: Oracle 8, snapshots and the year 1950 for last refresh

Oracle 8.0.3 on Solaris
My snapshots are working, but the date of the last refresh shows Jan 1, 1950. Even if I do a manual complete refresh, the date stays the same. Has anyone witnessed this, and if so, what do I do to fix it?
