[Quoted] Has anyone actually ever successfully deployed a Forms application? Without walking around and installing SQL*Net and Forms Runtime by hand from the Oracle CD on every client PC? Oracle support told me I have to do registry backups and manual registry imports to deploy an application. This is absolutely unacceptable.

I should be able to put the finished deployable product complete with the Oracle installer out on a networked server and have my users access it, or at least copy it to their machines and install like that. I know about bundling my forms files together with the Oracle File Packager, and the files (*.prd, *.dei, *.vrf) it creates. What I don't know is how to have it install the Forms Runtime, SQL*Net, Required Support Files, etc. Nowhere does any documentation that I've found indicate how to set up dependencies. The documentation that ships with Release 2.0 "Guidelines for Building Applications", has not changed in this respect since the last version. And the directory structure it refers to on the distribution CD is completely incorrect, so I had to figure that out, too. Not to mention the directions are unclear to begin with. I know there's *some* way to do this, but I am uncertain as to how to proceed.

Here's what I want a user to do:

  1. Install the application from whatever media.
  2. Click an icon to run the application.

And that's it. Any information anyone can provide on this subject will be GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks very much,
Adrian Klingel
To reply, please remove the "nospam" from my name. I'm using anti-spam measures, but it's probably too late for that anyway. The MLM schemes have been rolling in.
