Anybody,

[Quoted]   I'm exasperated and frustrated. What is the purpose of the new SmartClass? I had heard it was supposed to make things easier, but I can't see how. I've tried to create standard items that will appear on several of my forms, null out the canvas and tab properties, put them in an object library, then make a smartclass out of them. OK, no problem. Then I go onto a canvas in a form, create an object of the same type as one of my "smartclasses" in the object group, chooses the correct smartclass, and PRESTO, the object disappears from my canvas. I do this for each standard item, and one by one they disappear. I have to go into the Object Navigator, highlight them all, and specify the canvas and tab at that point. Doesn't seem to be too easy. I would expect that the canvas and tab properties would be filled in automatically at that point. Am I missing something very basic here? I've looked at the problem too long already, so I probably have no chance of solving it. I would appreciate any insight from developers using Forms 5.0 and how they have set up item inheritance in applications. There's just so many ways to do it that I'm confused. Property class in a form dependent on a visual attribute in an object library or other form, items based on property classes and visual attributes, visual attribute properties contained within property classes, etc.

Support made me aware of several bugs involving property inheritance and smartclasses that are slated to be fixed by the next release.

I really appreciate your help!
