In my experience Oracle Lite for Win95 is too lite, in fact it apparently simply uses ASCII flat files as a data store and really doesn't cut it when

it comes down to querying. We ran into problems with Oracle Lite and switched to Personal Oracle 7 for Win95 where we've had no problems, I suggest that you follow the SQL Unleashed book using Personal Oracle rather than Oracle Lite since it really is not Oracle.
