SQL*Plus/failed statements/advice needed

[Quoted] I'm having a few problems with SQL*Plus, which I downloaded as part of ORACLE [Quoted] Lite for WIN 95. The following statements return an error: rownum: ERROR at [Quoted] line 1:OCA-30035: column not found currval; user; uid; abs and a few others [Quoted] don't work either. (I'm working through 'SQL Unleashed' using example source [Quoted] code in that book)
