I have a WebServer generated module that collects employee information. I have set up an LOV for the user to choose their name off the list of employees. I display the employee name but I also have a unique column or artificial key for the employees that is not displayed. The LOV correctly passes the employee name to the web screen however, whenever there are duplicate names on the list (for example two John Smiths) and you choose one of thoses duplicate values, an error occurs when you attempt to save. The error states "Employee Name: Value entered does not uniquely identify a row." Of course it doesn't uniquely identify a row, it shouldn't have to since that's the purpose of the hidden column. Its as if the LOV's on web screens do not correctly pass back the hidden value of the unique identifier column. Using a hidden column on a dropdow list or lov is very common in other tools and I find it hard to believe that D2K WebServer doesn't have a way to implement this. I called Oracle support and they have yet to give a solution to the problem. Has anybody done this successfully? Received on Fri Mar 06 1998 - 00:00:00 CET
