  • RATIONAL SOFTWARE TO DELIVER RATIONAL ROSE '98 Rational Software delivered a new version of its flagship modeling tool, Rational Rose '98. The new version adds features aimed at IT shops undertaking large-scale, component-based development projects.
  • SYBASE ENHANCES JAVA DATABASE DRIVER Sybase announced availability of a version of its Java database connectivity software, jConnect, featuring enhanced security for Java applets.
  • SYBASE BUYS DATA WAREHOUSE VENDOR INTELLIDEX Sybase bought Intellidex Systems for its warehouse management, integration and meta data capture software, in an effort to offer one-stop data warehouse shopping.
  • INFORMIX DIVES INTO MIDDLEWARE MARKET In early March, Informix Software will reveal a strategy to position its object-relational database engine as middleware for transaction processing.
  • INFORMIX ENDS YEAR ON POSITIVE NOTE Informix defied Wall Street analysts' expectations and, in prelimary results, reported a profit for the fourth quarter of 1997.
