Trouble with Menu Roles Developer2K R2.0

In Developer2K2.0 it seems that there is a problem implementing menu security using roles. I have created and granted the roles to my users and when I call up the form it tells me that the user does not have the privs necessary to run the menu module. Distressing, to say the least. Am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.
