timer trigger causes automated selection

Suppose you have two windows where one recieves periodically a timer [Quoted] event and the other window has some editable fileds. Each time the timer executes the editable filed in the other window is entirely selected - which is very much annoying for the user!
Any idea who to turn that off?
Help is very much appreciated!
