Problem with ORACLE_HOME during Des/2K Upgrade on NT4.0

[Quoted] I have recently upgraded my Windows NT 3.51 system to Windows 4.0. I also decided to upgrade my Designer/2000 v1.30 to v1.32 which is supposed to work (and be supported) on NT 4.0.

During installation of Des/2K v1.32, after accepting the default Oracle Home location (E:\ORANT, my previous ORACLE_HOME under NT 3.51), I get the following message:

"The location specified, 'E:\ORANT', is already used as an Oracle home for 'WINDOWS'.
It cannot be used as an Oracle home for 'nt'."

What's the deal. I used 'E:\ORANT' as an Oracle home for Win NT 3.51, not 'WINDOWS' (I assume they mean Windows 3.1x). Why won't the installer allow me to reuse my ORACLE_HOME from NT 3.51 when upgrading software under NT 4.0?

If anybody has experienced a similar problem, please tell me how you solved it. I would ask Oracle Support, but our support recently ran out

and we won't be able to renew until the new year.

Thanks,

Rick Mellott
