Hi Gerry,

why intoducing the old SID into tnsnames.ora when you replaced the old instance by the new one?.

To access the new instance you've got to create a new db-alias for the new instance or modify the old one to point to the new instance. If you created a new one you need to setup ODBC-Administrator to use new alias.
Then check your connect string.
