OPO DefaultCondition Problem

I am trying to set a defaultcondition in OPO 2.1 to incorporate a date range in a report. I am connecting to MS Access where a date literal is in the form #10/10/97#

OPO won't pass on the statement as it says there is a bad token when I put something like 'invoice_date = #9/12/97#'. Does anyone know a good way around this?
