I would like some means of taking a report produced in Oracle and putting
the data straight into Excel automatically as the database is updated.

At the moment I am using a system where I create a report in Oracle and
output it as a plain text file. I then use Excel to read this file in and
parse it, putting all of the data in the spreadsheet.

When you open the Excel spreadsheet it checks the date-time stamp of the
input file. If the spreadsheet is out of date (by a day, or whatever) then
it reads in the report file.

This is a far from perfect solution. I really need it so that when the spreadsheet is updated it will always have the most up-to-date information
there is.

There is also the problem that someone has to press a button in Oracle every time to update the input file.

I don't really want to have to do all of the SQL again in Excel so I am
looking for a tool that will do this task for me. Does anyone know of such
a tool?
