Hi,

[Quoted] [Quoted] I'm trying to reverse engineer an existing database and have a couple of problems:

  1. RE from database produces a TNS 12203 connection failure. I'm using the name of the remote database owner as the object owner, the remote database owner and password as the connection owner/password and the TNS alias for the connection string e.g dbowner, dbowner/password and server1_db in the appropriate boxes.

This connection works fine from sql*plus e.g sqlplus dbowner/password_at_server1_db.

The failure appears almost instantaneously - without the usual wait for a failure to connect to a remote database.

2. Abandoning RE from database, I attempted RE from SQL file. This SQL file had been generated by Database Designer. All goes well, I can RE from this file and then RE table to entity. Unfortunately, the foreign key information has been lost and so, therefore, have the relationships between entities. Is this correct?

I'm running NT4, Oracle WGS 7.3.2.3.1, Des/2k 1.3.2.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Andy
