Oracle Forms Developer 2000

This is a question regarding Oracle Forms 4.5. I am currently developing
an application with 4 forms, within the first form I have 4 push buttons
doing the 4 basic functions(ADD, UPDATE, RESET, CANCEL). Here's the problem I am doing a retrieve from a LOV when I double click on
a text item and when I do a retrieve from the LOV, it populates the proper
objects and so forth, however, when I try to do a update to that particular record that I retrieved from the LOV Forms does not recognize my code and it seems to ignore the Update code completely. I am
doing this SQL update statement within a push button and a trigger WHEN-BUTTON-PUSHED. If there are any suggestion, I would appreciate it. Thanks in
