Discoverer v2 & Packaged Functions

If i create stand alone functions Discoverer v2 can see them, but if i
put them in a Package then it cant.
I tried creating a synonym but this doesnt seem to work either (even
from SqlPlus, says the synonym is an undefined column).
Anyone come across this problem?
