- Don't run applications when logged in as system. This is your default DBA account, create a user to run the app from
- Create private or public synonyms to point to the tables and grant access to the user for the objects. Then everything should work
- I fail to see why granting access to roles is a bad idea. This is the preferred way of granting access to multiple database objects.
