edate fields in forms 4.5

We are migrating from forms 3 to 4.5. The type of the date fields in our database is "number", so we use julian dates. The type in the forms is "edate". It seems that we cannot use masks, and the format is dd/mm/yy, so we cannot enter future dates in the next century. In forms v3, we were able to enter 31/12/2000, but in 4.5 we are not. How can we fix that problem without changing the types "number" to "date" in the database.
