 Let's try to help and not expose. Maybe there is a misunderstanding.

 I don't think that the statements are true even for a badly-tuned  Oracle7 server.

 What do you mean by 'crash'. Complex queries and certainly badly  written queries can adversely affect performance but should not 'crash'  anything.

 This can't be serious. If this was true then there would be very few  uncorrupted Oracle databases around.

 It is quite normal for long runnung queries (Batch reporting) to be done  outside business hours but this has nothing to do with data corruption.

 You will if you don't come to terms with your DBA.

 P.S. I have Dev/2000 on my PC - I'm lucky - I am also the DBA.
