forms 4.5 problem with file path longer than 7 characters

We are doing development with Developer/2000 1.3.2 and 1.4w on windows NT4.0 (i386, service pack 3) and have encountered a strange problem.

If the path to a form executable (excluding the drive: bit) is 8 characters or longer (independent of the depth of directories) then we get a fatal run-time error when we try and run the form.

Has anyone else encountered this problem?
