How much RAM ?

How much swap ?

What's the bets it's going into /tmp as well <grok> ?

How large are the reports being run and how much data are they reporting on ?

What else is running on the workstation ?

What temporary work directory have you set for reports, /tmp by any chance ?

Unless you have a workstation with large resources of memory and swap space, then you may find that the Oracle toolsets will use everything they can, which will cripple the performance.

Try running the reports processes on a powerful server and just get them to display on your workstation.

Developers using Oracle toolsets that don't swear ? Let me think about that for a while :)
