Thanks for your tip. Unfortunately the colour-setup in the desktop configuration doesn´t seem to be the problem (I´ve tried). A colleague of mine runs Forms 4.5 with the given configuration without any problem. We´ve compared our configs for exceed and now I have the same settings - no success, same error msg. Paradoxically Forms 4.0 runs with the given config. Oracle says, that the whole thing is a font-problem, but I´ve eliminated all "critical fonts" from the exceed-configuration (e.g. andrew-font). At this point I turn over in helpless-mode.  

BTW : We use exceed 5.1.0.1
