Pro*C process Thread Safe in Solaris 2.5.1 ?

I need to know whether a Pro*C process is thread safe in Solaris 2.5.1. I have a Pro*C process that has a connection to the database. I want to spawn a thread to do other work which also must access the database. Can they both use the same connection, or do they both need their own connection, or will this not work? Any experience or knowledge would be helpful.
