No.
All you can do is to create the items at design time, then Hide them until required. There is no reason why they should not occupy the same space on the canvas (so long as you don't want to display more than one at once).
You can move items around the canvas at run-time, and vary the visible size, but you cannot create items, or vary the underlying type or data size except in the designer.
