#1046008 Database Administrator(Progress, Oracle, Sybase, SQL Server)

The company has a 1000 database Progress shop. Recent conversion to version 7.3. They make use of a multivolume database configuration. The other parts of their database environment are Oracle 7.3, MS SQL Server versions 6.0 and 6.5 (to be converted to 6.5 by 2nd quarter), and some Sybase. Oracle is used for their PeopleSoft H/R system and SQL Server is used for the data warehouse. They have 5 major progress systems all running on HP9000 Model T or K400. Their financial systems are the last ones still running on SCO Unix on an AST Manhattan which they plan on rehosting to the HP9000 soon. The company is headed in an open systems direction and Oracle is to be the DBMS of choice. As they add new applications, they will likely be Oracle based and the Data Warehouse database will be converted to Oracle from SQL Server. Their new systems are XA compliant (open SQL environment and accessed with ANSI approved SQL statements). They are going to be bringing several large SQL Server applications online in the near future. Will be responsible for installation of program and schema changes. Will work with a mentor until they feel comfortable. They will also do performance tuning on Progress version 7.3 and support their Oracle and SQL Server applications. Will support the applications group. Will likely participate in gathering data definitions from their current environment and put them into the case tool, system architect, so data modeling experience and logical database design is a big plus.
