SQL*PLUS and Semicolons

I have SQL scripts that I can run in a Telnet session using SQLDBA. If I am in SQL*Plus (Ver. 3.2.2.0.1) on my Win95 machine and do a File Open and then Run on the same scripts, it stops at the very first semicolon and gives me an ORA-00911, Invalid Character message.

This happens whether or not I have SET SQLTERMINATOR ON.

How can I run these scripts in SQL*Plus?
