Hi --

[Quoted]   I have a question that is similar to some of the threads going around about [Quoted] ODBC drivers, the powermac, and connecting to an ORACLE database. The question [Quoted] is basically a two-parter. Any help would be appreciated.....

We just got the latest ODBC driver pack for Macintosh and are having some problems.

[Quoted] Let me start by saying, we had been using an older ODBC driver pack to allow [Quoted] FoxPro 2.6 on the Mac talk to an Oracle server... We did this on a PowerMac [Quoted] even though Intersolv claims that it's "Unsupported". I have developed a [Quoted] bunch of applications on Fox -- they all worked. No problem.

Recently, we upgraded the Oracle Server... it's now 7.3.2.2.0 running on an [Quoted] alpha. I recently installed the latest Oracle on the mac (2.3) and the NetTest [Quoted] application works fine -- it can see the Oracle server, and I can login. In its [Quoted] own words, "Your SQL*Net setup appears to be in working order". I can run [Quoted] queries and all that jazz

I was told that version 7.3.2.2 of Oracle on the Alpa required a later version [Quoted] of the ODBC drivers... this was confirmed when all of my Fox applications broke [Quoted] and the ODBC connection failed from within FoxPro.

So... we ordered the latest ODBC pack from Intersolv.... but

  1. I cannot get the ODBC test application to connect to the Oracle server. [Quoted] It comes up with an empty dialog box with an OK button. I know the "connection string" method has changed with the new Oracle, but everything [Quoted] I try produces the same error, an empty dialog.
  2. Intersolv tech. support refuses to help me because I'm using a PowerMac [Quoted] instead of a 68k based Mac. This is crap because we've been using Power [Quoted] Macs and Open Transport w/ Oracle and ODBC 1.1 for over a year. It would [Quoted] be an understatement to say that I'm dissatisfied with Intersolv right now.

I am convinced that this problem has nothing to do with the PowerMac or Open [Quoted] Transport. My real question is: #1 WHAT IS THE ORACLE SERVER LOOOKING FOR IN [Quoted] THE CONNECTION STRING FROM ODBC? #2 HAS ANYONE HAD SUCCESS WITH THIS SETUP? [Quoted] Can anyone help me with this madness? Thanks in advance....
