Forms4.5 - Tear Off Menus

Has anyone managed to get tear-off menus working? We have a 500+ forms application and clicking through the menu hierarchy (sometimes 5 levels deep) is painful to end-users. Is there a way to keep the last submenu selected on the screen when the end-user returns from a form or to allow the end-user to tear-off a frequently used submenu and retain it on the screen (without rewriting the menu as a form)?
